School News

Dear BHS Families,

In conjunction with our ongoing efforts to improve school security, we recently installed a doorbell with a camera outside the main entrance to Bernards High School.  In the past, parents and visitors entered the main doors and then buzzed into the main office from the vestibule. We have been advised by police and security experts that the safest procedure is to have visitors buzz in from the outside, and then once again from the vestibule.  Parents who are dropping off items for their students will now need to ring the doorbell and wait to be buzzed in prior to leaving the items on the table. Visitors who need to enter the main office will need to ring another doorbell, at which time they will be given access to the main office.  Access to the rest of the building will be granted only after a driver's license is scanned. This new security measure will ensure that anyone who enters the vestibule, which students access on a regular basis, will already have been vetted by the main office staff. I understand that this might be a small inconvenience, but it is an important step in keeping our students and staff safe.  Please reach out to my office with any questions or concerns.

Kind Regards,
Scott A. Neigel

Student Safety:  Student Pick-up and Drop-off
For the safety of our students and staff, student drop-off is limited to two locations in the morning:

1.  In front of the high school. (Please follow the direction of the traffic monitors)
2.  In the loop in front of the Olcott building off Olcott Avenue.

Student drop-off is not permitted in the parking lot between the Olcott building and BHS.  Click here for an important letter regarding student drop-off and pick-up. Click here for the diagram of traffic flow.
